PSP 3000 Analog Stick / Joystick Replacement Tutorial


This tutorial will show you how to replace the worn out analog stick in your PSP 3000.

Symptoms of a broken PSP 3000 analog stick:

  • Stick drifts in one direction
  • Stick moves slowly or doesn't move at all

Stuff you will need:

  • A few small screwdrivers (phillips #00, flat head)
  • Ziplock bags for screws and small parts

To do this job you have to remove the LCD screen. This is covered in our PSP 3000 LCD Screen Replacement Tutorial.
psp 3000 dpad screw After the screen is removed you'll see this screw that holds the dpad support. Remove it.

Lift up the dpad support, but leave the L button cable in place.

Remove the screw circled in red. Circled in green is the analog stick cable connector. It has a clasp on it that has to be carefully lifted up to release the cable. This clasp is very easy to break off!
